Where do you Relay and Why?
I am Survivorship chair of Mizzou's Relay For Life event. I Relay in honor of my dad, who has been fighting Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma since my freshman year of high school. He has been my reason to Relay since my first event in high school, and will always be my motivation to continue fighting against cancer.
What is your favorite Relay memory?
I have so many favorite Relay memories, but the one that really sticks out to me is when I shared my story at D230’s kick off event my junior year of high school. It was my first time ever talking about my story in public, and it was such a special moment for me to realize how much of an impact sharing my story to other people going through a similar battle has. People were coming up to me afterwards and were saying that I had given them the courage to open up and share their stories, and that was the most rewarding feeling I’ve ever felt.
Explain your role as Relay For Life Co-Chair on the NCLT.
As the High School Outreach chair on NCLT, my role is to support the high school market in the 4 strategic directions of cancer education, Relay For Life, survivor and caregiver engagement, and advocacy. My goal is to encourage high school events to continue to break barriers and grow year after year!
