Campus FAQ's: Holiday Fundraising

Happy Holidays! We hope you enjoyed our Holiday Fundraising Extravaganza this week. In case you missed any of the ideas, we have included them all below for your reference.

New this year, the NCLT encourages Relayer's to try out a, Take Home Luminaria Ceremony. The Luminaria Ceremony is one of the most treasured moments during Relay. At a Relay For Life event, we honor people who have been touched by cancer and remember loved ones lost to the disease during the Luminaria Ceremony. Candles are lit inside bags filled with sand, each one bearing the name of a person touched by cancer, and participants often walk a lap in silence. As people take time to remember, those who have walked alongside others battling cancer can grieve and find healing. This is a time that truly highlights the importance of defeating cancer.

This year, we invite you to take Relay For Life Home for the Holidays. Over the holidays many of us have the opportunity to spend time with family and friends near and far. Holiday gatherings are a perfect opportunity to share a special piece of Relay, and hold a small luminaria ceremony. Take a moment to remember loved ones lost, and honor those that have survived with those most dear to you.

You can talk with your Staff Partner or Event Leadership Team to purchase Luminaria, or you can buy them online. Use the Mini-Luminaria Sample Script found below, or write your own!
